Answers for Good

Can we improve the answers from chatbots when someone asks a question about a social issue? Tech Matters is conducting an experiment to see if this is possible by offering the best possible information for AI vendors to use to train their models.

Social Problem Addressed

When most people ask for information these days, they do not go directly to a resource website. Instead, they ask an AI-enabled chatbot or a search engine which delivers an AI summary of the search results. The problem: the AI frequently gives lousy answers. Sometimes it’s just wrong, incomplete, misleading, or actively pernicious. People in need of answers deserve better, and tech companies don’t care enough to address this problem.

Here's What We're Doing

We are running an experiment to see if we can improve the answers provided by AI about a social issue. We are choosing to work initially on the topic of preventing child sexual abuse, using factual information and the best research to improve the source material the AI vendors use to train their models.

Partners and Supporters

We are acting in partnership with To Zero, the umbrella organization helping build the global movement to end child sexual violence. Along with To Zero, we will be partnering with many of the organizations working on this critically important issue to protect children.
